The idea

Claude comes in five plans. Knowing yours explains most of what you see.

For individuals there's Free, Pro and Max. For companies there's Team and Enterprise. Your plan decides which features you get and how much you can use.

Some people have two accounts on the same email: a personal one and a work one. They're separate. Each has its own chats and its own settings.

Look

Your name is the way in

Simplified drawing of the Claude screen: past chats on the left with your name below them, your message and Claude's reply in the middle, and the message box with attach, voice and send near the bottom. Highlighted: your name, where Settings lives.
Simplified drawing of Claude on a phone: a menu button for past chats and your initials at the top, your message and Claude's reply in the middle, and the message box with attach, voice and send at the bottom. Highlighted: your name, where Settings lives.
  1. Your name. On a computer, click your initials or name in the lower-left corner, then Settings. On a phone, the spot is different.
  2. Your past chats. Everything you've asked is kept here for later. On a phone, they sit behind the menu button.
A simplified drawing, not a screenshot. The buttons move around now and then. The big box you type in doesn't.

The menu lists your accounts, and a blue checkmark shows the one you're in. Click another account to switch.

Your turn

Find your plan

  1. Click your initials or name in the lower-left corner, then Settings.
  2. Look for your plan name. On a paid personal plan, it's under Billing.
  3. If you're in a work account, note your organization's name.
  4. Think back to how you signed in. Continue with SSO means your company login. Otherwise, you used your email.

Write it down somewhere you'll find it:

My plan: [plan]. My organization: [name, or none]. I signed in with: [company login or email].

One thing to notice

A limit is not a fault

Most plans have a usage limit, a budget for a stretch of time. First you may see Approaching 5-hour limit. Then, if you keep going, 5-hour limit reached, with a reset time.

Nothing is broken. You've used your share for now. Wait for the reset, or tell whoever looks after your company's plan. If your Settings has a Usage page, it shows how much you've used and when it resets.

If your screen looks different

On Team and Enterprise, your company handles billing, so you may not see a plan name. Your organization's name is enough. If you're unsure, ask your admin which plan you're on.

Quick check

One question, no gradeA message says “5-hour limit reached” with a time next to it. What happened?
