The idea
Some asks are quicker said than typed. Talk to Claude the way you'd talk to a colleague on the phone.
Voice mode lets you speak your request and hear Claude answer. It's handy between meetings, on a walk, or when your hands are full.
It's a beta feature, and it's on every plan. It works in the browser, the desktop app and the phone app.
Here's the button
- Voice. The sound-wave button, lower right, starts voice mode so you can talk instead of type.
- The message box. This is where you type. It's the biggest box on the screen.
- Send. Click or tap the arrow. On a computer, Enter works too.
Tap, talk, stop
- 1
Tap the wave
The sound-wave button is in the lower right. On a phone, it's next to the microphone.
- 2
Just talk
Say what you want, in your own words. Pauses are fine.
- 3
Stop
Click Stop in the lower right when you're done. A written copy stays in the chat.
Talk through an agenda
Tap the sound-wave button and say this, filling in your meeting:
Give me a three-item agenda for my [meeting] on [day]. Keep each item to one line.
If voice isn't there or doesn't start, type the same line instead. You'll get the same agenda.
No sound-wave button at work? On an Enterprise plan, your company can have voice mode switched off. That's a company setting, not something you did. Voice time also counts toward your plan's usage limit, the same as typing.
