The idea
When a feature is missing, it's almost always your plan or your company's settings. Not you.
A colleague mentions a feature. A lesson shows a button. You look, and it isn't there. There are two usual reasons.
Your plan. Some features come only with paid plans. Claude Docs and Claude Slides, for example, are in beta on paid plans only.
Your admin. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner decides what's on for everyone. Three common examples:
- Memory starts off on Team and Enterprise. An Owner has to turn it on.
- Connectors, which link Claude to your other work tools, need an Owner to enable them first.
- File creation, where Claude makes documents and spreadsheets for you, is on by default. An Owner can switch it off.
On Enterprise, admins also choose when Docs and Slides go on, and can have voice mode switched off.
Missing isn't broken
- 1
Spot the gap
The setting is greyed out, or not there at all.
- 2
Check your plan
Click your initials or name, lower left, then Settings, and find your plan.
- 3
Ask, don't hunt
On a work account, send IT or your Claude admin one short note.
Ask for one feature
Pick one feature you'd use at work but can't find. Fill in this note and send it to IT, or whoever looks after Claude at your company.
Hi [name], I use Claude for [task]. I can't find [feature] in my account. Could it be turned on for me, or is it off on purpose? It would help me [one concrete benefit]. Thanks, [your name]
A no is a fine answer. Some features stay off for good reasons, like rules about client data.
On a personal plan, there's no admin to ask. If you're on Free, the feature may need a paid plan. And if you still see a separate Cowork tab, you have the older layout. The new one is rolling out gradually, so some things sit in different places for now.
