The idea
When Claude makes something you'd keep, it saves it for you. You just need to know where it goes.
A checklist, a short document, a small tool. When Claude makes a finished piece like that, it opens it in a panel beside the chat. Claude calls this an artifact.
Every artifact is kept in the Artifacts tab in your sidebar. You can find it from any chat, not only the one where you made it.
It starts private. Nobody else sees it unless you share it.
It lives in the sidebar
- Your past chats. Everything you've asked is kept here for later. On a phone, they sit behind the menu button.
- New chat. Starts a fresh conversation. The old ones stay in your list.
Make it, check it, keep it
- 1
Ask for it
Ask for something you'll use again. It opens beside the chat.
- 2
Check it over
Want changes? Ask in the chat. The artifact updates.
- 3
Download a copy
Open it and look at the top of the panel for the export or download option.
Make one, find it, keep it
Type this, filling in a task you do every month:
Make me a one-page checklist for [a task you do every month], as a document I can keep and reuse.
Then start a new chat. Open the Artifacts tab in the sidebar and find your checklist there. Download a copy to your computer.
On the phone app, you can see your artifacts in the Artifacts tab. Downloading is easier on a computer, so do this one there. The download option's name depends on the kind of artifact; any button that saves a file will do.
