The idea
Some work comes back every month. Give it a Project, and explain it once.
A Project is a workspace for one ongoing piece of work. It keeps its own chats, its own files and its own instructions. Every chat inside it starts with that context already in place.
Think of the monthly report, one client account, or the onboarding pack you rewrite every spring. Anything you'd otherwise explain from scratch each time.
Projects are on every plan. Free allows up to five, so give them to the work that comes back most.
Set one up once
- 1
Make the Project
Click Projects in the sidebar, then New Project. Give it a plain name.
- 2
Write the note
Click Set project instructions, write what Claude should know, then Save instructions.
- 3
Chat inside it
Start new chats inside the Project. Claude uses your instructions in every one.
The name and description are for you. Claude can't see them. Anything Claude should know goes in the instructions.
Give one task a home
Pick one task you do every week or month. Create a Project for it, click Set project instructions, and paste this, filled in:
About this work: [what the task is], for [who reads it]. Keep it [length or tone]. Always [the one thing you repeat every time].
Save it, then start a chat in the Project and ask for a first draft. Notice what you didn't have to explain.
Can't make another Project on Free? You may already have five, the Free limit. Reuse one you've finished with by changing its instructions.
